MAY 31-June 1, 2025: HIGH SCHOOL KICKOFF CLASSIC TOURNAMENT (AZ) - NCS CAFARELLI

🌩️⚾ High School Kickoff Classic – Recap ⚾🌩️
The High School Kickoff Classic at Gene Autry Park in Mesa, AZ brought the heat even when the weather didn’t! What a start to summer baseball in Arizona. A Sunday lightning delay and some light rain tried to cool things off, but the players kept the intensity high with some incredible, nail-biting matchups. We rolled with 8 fierce 14U teams and 5 tough Underclass squads after several teams had to drop out last minute. Those who showed up came to compete! From walk-offs to final-inning battles, the energy was electric all weekend long. 🏆 We proudly handed out champion and finalist rings in two brackets, plus medals in the 14U Silver Bracket, celebrating the grit and heart these young athletes brought to the field. 👏 Huge shoutout to all the players, coaches, families, and fans who made this weekend one to remember. Thanks for showing up and showing out—we hope you had as much fun as we did! 📸 See the full recap at NCSCafarelli.com and catch the tournament photo album on Facebook: 2025 High School Kickoff Classic - 5/31-6/1/25 - NCS Cafarelli. Southern Arizona Baseball Academy (S.A.B.A.) continues to dominate our events, having gone undefeated in their last 12 NCS games and taking home the Gold Championship in their last 3 NCS Tournaments. Their first NCS tournament they went 0-3 but since then have gone undefeated.
The Diablos gave S.A.B.A. a run for their money in the Championship game after losing to them earlier on Saturday 12-5. The Diablos took an early lead but could not hold on as S.A.B.A. chipped away and eventually took the win 9-6. This was the 13th NCS tournament for the Diablos this season, and they had won their last two NCS Cafarelli tournaments by going 8-0.
Both of these organizations are very solid and It wouldn't surprise me to see them match up in a championship game in one of our future events.
14𝐔 Silver 🥇
𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 - AZ Boyz Baseball
𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 - Scottsdale Bombers
After losing their first game of the tournament, the AZ Boyz baseball team won their next three to take home the Silver Championship. They outscored their opponents in those last 3 games 32-1. This was their sixth NCS Cafarelli event this season and they have a 19-5 overall record. They have made it to the championship game in 5 of those six tournaments.
This was the first NCS Cafarelli tournament for the Scottsdale Bombers 14U Red, and they had quite an up and down tournament. After going 0-2 on Saturday they started bracket Sunday with a big win over PFA-Lofton 10-4. Then they struggled to get any runs across in the Silver Championship game and ended up losing 12-0. We hope to see the Bombers again this season.
Underclass 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝 🏆
𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 - Tremendos
𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 - Ballers
The Tremendos had lost to the Ballers on Saturday in a close battle 7-6, so they were looking for redemption on Sunday. Both teams battled to score runs in the championship game, but eventually the Tremendos tallied 4 runs to the Ballers 0. This was only the second time the Tremendos have played NCS Cafarelli and they have taken home the Championship Rings both times, with an overall record of 7-1.
The Ballers are a new team that was playing in their first tournament, so you have to give mad respect to how they competed. They were undefeated at 3-0 heading into the championship game, having defeated Tremendos on Saturday 7-6. They were only down 1-0 late into the game, but just couldn't get the hits when needed.
There was some great baseball being played in this division, and I look forward to seeing all of these teams again.

APRIL 26-27TH, 2025: SPRING FLING II RESULTS - NCS CAFARELLI
|
What an incredible Weekend at 𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐈! Sunshine, fierce competition, and nonstop baseball action made for an unforgettable weekend at the Spring Fling II event! With 45 teams battling it out across 6 divisions, the energy was electric from start to finish. There were 17 out of the 45 teams that were playing in their first NCS Cafarelli event this year.
Games lit up the East Valley at Crossroads Park and the West Valley at Independence and Youngker High Schools, showcasing top-tier talent on every field. We celebrated 76 outstanding individual performances with Player of the Game awards, while 9 teams earned Championship Rings and another 9 claimed Finalist Rings. The bronze division also took home Championship and Finalist team Medals - a well-deserved recognition of their grit and hustle. To check out all the photos of the tournament please go to our Facebook album for this event - NCS Spring Fling II and please tag us in any of your photos! 📢 Here are the results from this event: 𝟏𝟒𝐔 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝 🏆 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 - 𝐒.𝐀.𝐁.𝐀. They have an 8-game win streak and have played in 3 total NCS events this year taking home first place back-to-back now. S.A.B.A. Green was 3-0 (outscoring their opponents 41-15) heading into the championship game against S.A.B.A. This was their first NCS Cafarelli tournament of the year and they barely lost 1-0 in a closely contested championship match. |
Dirtbags Grijalva 2029 went 2-0 on Saturday in their first NCS Cafarelli tournament, although they did participate in the HS Showcase Event in December. They ended up just missing out on the championship game after losing to S.A.B.A. Green 10-9.
The EM Firebirds were the fourth team going 2-0 on Saturday, also playing in their first NCS Cafarelli tournament. They went up against eventual champion S.A.B.A. in the semi-finals and were defeated 12-1.
This was the Prescott Rebels second NCS Cafarelli tournament this year. They started of with a resounding 14-0 win over Angels Black and then lost their next 2 games.

They bounced back when it counted, however, finishing with 2 straight wins on Sunday, and outscoring their opponents 26-4 to take home the Silver bracket championship. This was also their first NCS Cafarelli tournament, so a good result to take home rings in their first event.
AZ Sticks, Premier Baseball Arizona, and Angels Black all went 0-2 on Saturday as well. Premier Baseball got a win over AZ Sticks on Sunday before losing the silver championship to Overfly AZ Grey.
It was AZ Sticks third NCS event this year, while it was the second for Premier Baseball and Angels Black, as they all look to earn their first championship soon.

Three teams went 2-0 on Saturday to make it to the gold championship round on Sunday, and the other two teams that made it to the gold bracket went 1-0-1. Rebels Carolina Blue was one of those teams that went 1-0-1, and were the bottom seed heading into Sunday. Something changed, however, as they went 3-0 while taking the long road to the championship, but eventually winning it all by defeating the Arizona Defenders 14-1 in the Championship. They had some close games all weekend long playing in their third NCS event. Rebels Carolina Blue have won their last 2 NCS tournaments and are 10-1-1 overall this year.
The Arizona Defenders came into Sunday as the #2 seed, and after going 3-0 they eventually lost to Rebels Carolina Blue in the gold championship. They had outscored their opponents 31-9 heading into the final game, but may have run out of pitching.
The AZ Outlaws were one of 3 teams that went 2-0 on Saturday, and they were the top seeded team heading into championship Sunday. They ran up against Rebels Carolina Blue in their first game and went down in a close 5-7 contest. This was the AZ Outlaws third NCS tournament and their best outing so far.
The AMDG Broncos 13u Black team was the third 2-0 team on Saturday and were the third seed in the gold bracket. They beat their opponents handily on Saturday outscoring them 27-11, but lost a tight 4-3 game to the Arizona Defenders in the semi-finals. This was their first NCS Cafarelli event this year, but it looks like we will see them again next week at our Cinco de Mayo Classic in Chandler.
ZT Prospects out of Casa Grande were playing in their first NCS Cafarelli tournament this year and were the #4 seed heading into Sunday after going 1-0-1 (tying their game against eventual tournament winner Rebels Carolina Blue 4-4). They lost in their rematch on Sunday in a nail biter 7-8 which sent them packing.

Angels Navy was the only team with a win (1-1) on Saturday which placed them on top of the silver bracket seeding for Sunday. However, they went up against a team that was looking for redemption after going 0-2 on Saturday. Angels Navy ended up losing their first Sunday game to AZ Neptune 14-2, but it still ended up being their best results in the two NCS tournaments they have played.
AZ Neptune was the 9th seed heading into Sunday and they had something to prove. They ended up going 3-0 and outscoring their opponents 54-23 on their way to the silver championship. This was the 5th NCS Cafarelli tournament for AZ Neptune and their second championship in 3 championship games.
Also going 0-2 on Saturday, Birdgang Baseball defeated AZ Nitro 4-3 to make it to the championship before losing to AZ Neptune. This was their first NCS Cafarelli tournament this year in this age division although it looks like they will be competing again next weekend in the Cinco de Mayo Classic (AZ).
AZ Nitro and Mesa Toros Red both went 0-3 over the weekend. This was the second NCS Cafarelli tournament for AZ Nitro after competing in the Spring Training Classic on 3/8/25. They are scheduled to compete in the 3rd Annual Memorial Day Classic in Payson on May 24-26th.
This was the third NCS Cafarelli tournament for the Mesa Toros Red and 4th overall NCS event. Unfortunately this was their worst outing so far this season, so we hope they perform better when they compete in our upcoming Cinco de Mayo Classic next week.

Four teams went 2-0 on Saturday to make it to the Gold bracket on Championship Sunday. The Moonshots were the #1 seed and defeated Legends 7-2 before falling to Supreme 14-4 in the finals. This was the 5th NCS tournament and 4th NCS Cafarelli event this year, and the fourth time they have come in second place. They will get their championship rings eventually.
Supreme made it to the finals by defeating the Arizona Aces 10-0 in the semi-finals and eventually going undefeated all weekend. This is the second NCS Cafarelli tournament for them and they have been champions both times, with a 7-1 overall record.
The Arizona Aces lost their first game to Supreme on Sunday in their first NCS Cafarelli tournament, but we hope to see them competing in another of our events real soon.

Wolves Baseball have played in 3 NCS Cafarelli tournaments and this is their first Championship, congratulations!
Birdgang Baseball once again made it to the championship game, which is their fourth straight championship game out of 5 total NCS Cafarelli tournaments. They have won 2 silver bracket championships but have come up just short in both of their gold championship games, including this time against Wolves Baseball.
The Wolfpack had a great start to the weekend going 2-0 on Saturday and outscoring their opponents 27-4 in the process. They ended up losing their semi-final game just missing the championship. This was the third NCS Cafarelli tournament Wolfpack has played in and they continue to improve each and every outing.
The Arizona Dust Devils ended up being the third seed after 4 of the 6 teams ended at 1-1 on Saturday. They defeated PDP Athletics on Sunday to make it to the semi-final game before losing to the eventual champions Wolves Baseball. This was the Arizona Dust Devils 9th NCS Cafarelli Tournament this season! They have a 28-10 overall record and prior to this tournament had won their last two tournaments, the Spring Training Classic and Super Bowl Saturday.
The Tucans were also 1-1 on Saturday before losing to Birdgang on Sunday. Their lone victory was against the Arizona Dust Devils, but they continue to improve every tournament they play in. This was the Tucans 4th NCS Cafarelli Tournament this year.
This was PDP Athletics first NCS Cafarelli Tournament this year. They competed hard against some really tough competition. Coming from Chandler, AZ we hope to see them again real soon!
14U Gold 🥇
Diablos - Champions
AZ Boyz Baseball - Finalist
The Diablos ended up going 4-0 on their way to winning another NCS Cafarelli Championship. They defense is undeniable as they outscored their opponents 27-8. This is the 10th NCS Cafarelli Tournament for the Diablos (including the HS Showcase event), and their third championship win in 6 championship games.
The AZ Boyz also were undefeated heading into the championship game after outscoring their opponents 30-5 in those games. This was their first loss in their last 12 games with NCS, playing in their 4th NCS Cafarelli tournament this year and playing in the championship game in every one up to this point (2-2 in championship games).
The Queen Creek Rattlers 14u White went 2-0 on Saturday, but were shut out by the Diablos in a close 3-0 game. This was the Rattlers first NCS Cafarelli tournament this year, and going 2-1 is a good showing.
Rounding out the gold bracket was 928 Baseball Club Teal, out of Yuma, AZ. They struggled with consistency this tournament, playing in their 2nd NCS Cafarelli tournament and 5th NCS Tournament overall. They played in one championship game in San Diego earlier this year.
14U Silver 🥇
FCA Lofton Baseball - Champions
Birdgang Baseball - Finalist
FCA Lofton was the 7th seed heading into Sunday after going 0-2 and being outscored 18-3. They flipped a switch on Sunday going 2-0 and outscoring their opponents 17-2 on their way to the championship. They knew when to turn it on, and this is now their second championship in 4 NCS Cafarelli tournament, also winning the President's Day Classic in February.
Birdgang Baseball was the fifth seed after going 1-1 on Saturday and was the first team in the silver bracket. After defeating Krigare Athletics in a tightly contested 2-1 final, they lost in the Championship game to FCA Lofton. This was the 9th NCS Cafarelli tournament for Birdgang and they are 2-4 in championship games.
The Tucson Sidewinders lost both of their games by 1 run on Saturday (4-5 vs Diablos, and 9-10 vs Queen Creek Rattlers), and couldn't put it all together on Sunday this weekend. This was the 5th NCS Cafarelli tournament for them this season, and they have played for one championship at the High School Black Friday tournament in November.
After losing big to Birdgang on Saturday, Krigare Athletics barely lost to Birdgang 2-1 on Sunday in a revenge match. They played their hearts out in their first ever NCS Cafarelli tournament, and we hope they are ready to compete in another of our events soon!
A huge thank you again to all teams, coaches, families, fans, and umpires for making this event such a success. Your energy and sportsmanship made it unforgettable!
See you at the next tournament!
